one of the good things about the current political situation is that it allows me to justify going back to using linux. for reference, i started using linux early last year: i started using debian along with windows. my parents disapproved, especially after that computer started acting up (for reasons verifiably not related to my actions, the computer just wouldn't recognize any internal hard drive, even if just windows). after it failed, i was left using my 8 year old at the time chromebook, which i would eventually install mx linux on (nothing else would work!). for some reason, the system ended up eating up nearly all of the 16 gb of storage on the device, and i could only really use my browser (which happened to be firefox). for my next computer, i then chose to stick solely to windows. which was miserable. knowing that microsoft has that much power over me and my system. knowing how everything being set for me. having that stupid file system, having powershell. the fact that i can not even get rid of edge and all the other stupid preinstalled apps (also, fuck you android. you are lucky that i don't have a pixel so i can replace you with grapheneos). but with the new president coming to power, i did not feel comfortable continuing to conduct all of my business on windows. so, i made the decision to return to dual booting into windows and linux. currently, i am using mx linux, with the fluxbox window manager, and only use windows for school work, for microsoft office

i have also made other adjustments: i now almost stopped using youtube, started using a vpn (mullvad), hardened firefox more, etc. considering that i have basically been addicted to youtube since as long as i remember, me just stopping using the service almost in its entirety feels bizarre. i guess it was just replaced by streaming through deezer (which realistically is not much better, it is controlled by a us based company). i can at least justify it somewhat because it is what i scrape to create my offline music collection. i also notice i have been using tumblr more (still, us based company. also fuck matt mullenweg)

as you may know, february the 14th is special... it is the release date for venturing's album ghostholding and horsegirl's album phonetics on and on. for reasons, i have not yet listened to phonetics on and on in its entirety despite it being one of the albums i have been looking forward to the most this year. instead, i am on my fourth or fifth listen of ghostholding. other albums i have been listening to a lot recently include choke enough by oklou (of course!), seed of a seed by haley henderickx, all of alex g's music for some reason, twin fantasy by car seat headrest, mwah by purient, and all of arooj aftab's work. i also forgot to mention debí tirar más fotos by bad bunny in my last blog post. although i don't know spanish, it was helpful to listen to something that stands for something in this crazy world
